The coconut mattress base is the perfect solution to conceal poor slatted frames, support extremely hard sleepers, or be used as a robust base for Pilates, yoga, or relaxation.
Why a coconut mattress base?
Not every slatted frame offers the desired stability. Problems such as excessively large slat spacing, sagging slats, or mattresses that are too thin can significantly impair sleeping comfort. A coconut mattress base can remedy this:
- It compensates for deficiencies in the slatted frame and provides additional support.
- It stabilizes the base and improves sleeping comfort.
- It can also be used as a robust exercise or relaxation mat.
For extremely deep stomach sleepers when combined with a climate layer of wool, the coconut mattress can even serve as a standalone mattress – although we advise against this for normal sleepers.
Properties of the coconut mattress
The core of the coconut mattress base consists of a 5cm thick latexed coconut fiber mat (100% natural). This stable and elastic material is particularly durable, point-elastic, and breathable. The cover made of organic cotton satin (GOTS-certified) provides additional comfort and is washable at 60°C.
Thanks to the natural properties of coconut fibers, the ventilation of the mattress or futon is minimally restricted. For floor use, the coconut undermattress is a comfortable alternative to tatami mats, offering not only better ventilation but also more comfortable use. Please note, however, that it is not sufficient as a sole ventilation solution.
From a size of 160x200cm (or from 140x200cm on request) the coconut panel is divided inside to make it easier to handle.
